Bootable USB Drive Full Install Rescue Recovery Restore Mac OS X El Capitan

This 16GB USB flash drive contains a full bootable install disk for macOS 10.11 (El Capitan). It can be used to rescue a dead hard drive, or SSD, or if your Apple Mac or MacBook Pro has stopped starting up.

Unlike other similar eBay listings, this drive provides the FULL INSTALL version of the operating system, and not just upgrades. This means it can be installed on a completely blank or freshly formatted hard drive/ SSD as well as upgrading an existing operating system. 

To use this drive, ensure your Mac is shut down and then press the power button to start it up, holding down the Option key until you see a choice of drives appear on the screen. Select the (usually yellow) installer drive, click on the arrow and wait for the Utilities screen to load. Next, select the "Install macOS" option, click the arrow and follow the onscreen instructions. The installation process will take some time, and may need to reboot several times. This is normal, so please be patient while it installs.

Please note -- if performing a fresh install of macOS El Capitan, all previous data and settings on the hard drive will be lost, so ensure you have your files backed up.

IMPORTANT: El Capitan takes a notoriously long time to install. The process can take several hours (depending on your hardware). If you require a shorter installation time, you may want to choose Sierra or High Sierra instead.
